Budgam Police arrests 03 drug peddlers, contraband substance recovered. Drug peddler evading arrest also arrested

Budgam: 4th May, 2022 : Continuing its efforts to rein in the menace of drugs from the society, Police Station Budgam on 03/05/2022 evening, arrested 03 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession. Moreover, one more drug peddler evading his arrest also arrested.

During Naka checking at Dedina Budgam near Filtration plant, police party of Police Station Budgam intercepted a vehicle (CRETA) bearing registration number JKO1AQ-5659 with 03 persons onboard which was coming from Sholipora towards Mirgund , when police party signalled the driver to stop, he tried to flee from the spot but was tactfully chased and overpowered. Driver has been identified as Shahid Ali Rather, S/O- Ali Mohd. Rather, R/O- Bemina, Khomani Chowk and other two persons were identified as:
Shuja Abbas Malik, S/O- Ghulam Hussain Malik, R/O- Waterwani and
Barkat Ali, S/O- Ghulam Hussain Ali, R/O- Labertal. During their personal search, 3.96 gms of Heroin like Substance and 350 Alprazolam 0.25 tablets were recovered from their possession.The drug peddlers were arrested and shifted to police station Budgam where they remain in custody. Besides, vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 130/2022 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation set into motion.
Moreover, one absconding drug peddler namely Mohd.Rafiq Rather, S/O- Mohd. Subhan Rather, R/O- Nasrullahpora from whom 22 gms of Heroin like substance was recovered and was evading his arrest in Case FIR No. 70/2022 of P/S Budgam, after hectic efforts by Budgam Police was also arrested today on 04/05/2022.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
