Drug peddler arrested in Tral, poppy straw recovered

Awantipora 02 Jan: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Awantipora Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance.
As per the official, Tral Police Station received a specific information through reliable sources that a person namely Fayaz Ahmad Bhat S/O Ghulam Mohammad Bhat R/O Buchoo Tral is indulged in peddling of contraband substances and have hoarded a large quantity of contraband substances in his residential house, a police team headed by SHO Tral alongwith Executive Magistrate raided the said house.
He said that, during search, Police team along with Executive Magistrate recovered 111 Kgs of grinded Poppy Straw from the residential house of above mentioned person.
The accused has been arrested, while a case vide FIR No. 01/2022 under relevant section of law stands registered at Police Station Tral. Further investigation in the said case is going on.
Police requested people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their area.
“Any person found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt strictly as per law,” a statement reads.
