3 militants killed, 3 Cops, 1 CRPF personnel wounded, in Srinagar gunfight: Police

Srinagar, December 31: At least Three militants were killed in gunfight which earlier broke out between militants and security forces in Panthachowk of Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on late night Friday.

In the encounter, 3 policemen and a CRPF personel also wounded and have been shifted to hospital for the treatment.

A senior police officer said  that three militants were killed in the Srinagar gunfight, 03 policemen and a CRPF personel also wounded, officer added.

Earlier, an official said that a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) on input about presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering a gunfight.

Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered from the encounter site, Search going on, official said

The identification of the militants is being ascertained, the searches are still going, he added.
