Tral: Excise department organises awareness camp on illicit cultivation of Poppy

Tral: Excise and taxation department in Tral area of South Kashmir on Thursday organised an awareness camp on illicit cultivation of Poppy/Bung.

The programme was held in Town Hall Tral, which was attended by Sarpanchs, Panchs, Lambardars, and social activists.

On the occasion, Excise and taxation officer, South Kashmir, Sameer Ahmad, ADC Tral, SA Raina, DDC member, Dr. Harbaksh Singh, DySP Anti-narcotics, Altaf Ahmad, Tehsildar Tral, Sajad Ahmad attended the programme as speakers, who all deliberated upon the illicit cultivation of Poppy, and asked participants to make people aware about its consequences.

Chairman Citizens Council Tral, Farooq Tral was also present in the programme, who hailed the efforts of administration for conducting such programmes.

Talking to media, Excise officer South Kashmir Sameer Ahmad has said that motive to conduct programme was to stop illicit cultivation of Poppy in South Kashmir.

He said that such type of programmes will be conducted in each and every tehsil of South Kashmir.
