Srinagar-Jammu highway closed following landslides
Traffic was suspended on the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Wednesday, following landslides at few places on the highway in the Ramsoo-Ramban sector. According to a traffic official, “the nightlong rain triggered landslides at few places on the highway leading to temporarily suspension of traffic ,keeping in view the safety of passengers travelling on the highway the traffic was pulled up”. The official said that traffic will be allowed once the landslide debris is cleared. Meanwhile, men and machines of the Border Road Organisation have been pressed into service to clear the highway of the landslide and make it trafficable, said official.
Authorities have been allowing one way traffic on the highway for the past few days.Meanwhile,weather office has forecast moderate rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
