‘Huge cache of arms, ammunition, currency notes recovered’

 

Uri, Sep 23 : Three heavily armed militants, who infiltrated to the Line of Control in Uri sector in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have been killed, while two others were pushed back during a three-day operation in the area, Army said on Thursday.

Addressing a press conference in Uri, GOC, Virendra Vats said that, the Pakistani militants were trying to infiltrate through LOC Uri, however, they have increased the surveillance on LOC to trace any untoward.

“On 23 September around 6 am morning they were ambushed on LOC, when three heavily armed militants infiltrating from Pakistan were traced. Soon our forces traced them, the militants were challenged ensuing a gunfight in which three heavily armed militants were killed. There were two more militants who were pushed back,” he said.

He said that five AK-47, 7 Chinese pistols, 1 revolver, 45 grenades, 22 UBGL grenades, 38 Chinese grenades, 7 Pakistani origin grenades, 45 thousand Indian currency, 10300 Pakistani currency and eatables including Tobacco like substance were recovered from their possession.
