Traffic cop killed in Road accident in Qazigund

Srinagar, March 18:An Assistant Sub Inspector of Traffic police was killed on Thursday after being hit by an unknown Truck at Bonigam crossing in the Qazigund area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Sources said that Around 3 am tonight unknown truck hit one traffic police Man identified as SO Bonigam ASI Mohd Shafi Bhat son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat resident of Shangus Nowgam Anantnag at Bonigam crossing Qazigund resulting in spot death of traffic cop.

The officer further said that the truck driver fled from the scene, after that traffic movement was stopped, and a search for identification of vehicles was started in the Qazigund area.

During searches, a suspected truck has been found at Chimulla Qazigund and further investigation is going on.

Traffic movement which was halted temporarily was restored, the officer said.
