52 Jammu and Kashmir Police Personnel Decorated with Medals for Bravery and Service
Srinagar, Jan 25: As many as 52 personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police were decorated with police medals on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, in recognition of their courage, dedication and distinguished service, according to an official list released on Sunday.
The honours include the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, Medal for Gallantry, and Medal for Meritorious Service, highlighting the exemplary contributions of the police force under challenging conditions.
Two senior officers were awarded the country’s highest police service honour, the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service. The recipients are Deputy Inspectors General of Police Haseeb Mughal and Nisha Nathyal, recognised for their outstanding leadership and commitment.
A total of 33 personnel received the Medal for Gallantry for acts of exceptional bravery during operational duties. Among them are Deputy Superintendents of Police Javaid Ahmad Lone, Mohd Ashrif and Mohan Lal; IPS officer and Senior Superintendent of Police Tanushree; SSP Shabir Nawab; and Inspector Younis Khan, along with several officers from different ranks and units across the Union Territory.
Their actions, often carried out at great personal risk, have been officially commended.
Meanwhile, 17 officers were conferred the Medal for Meritorious Service, acknowledging their sustained dedication and professional excellence. The awardees include Inspector Generals of Police Mohd Suleman Choudhary, Sujit Kumar and Vivek Gupta.
Other recipients include Deputy Superintendents of Police Himat Singh, Champa Devi Sharma and Khushwant Singh; Inspectors Anil Sharma, Reyaz Ahmad Langoo, Sardar Singh, Neeraj Kumar Koul and Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, along with Assistant Sub-Inspectors and Constables.
The awards underline the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s crucial role in maintaining public order and countering security challenges. The recognition on Republic Day reflects the government’s appreciation of the force’s professionalism and sacrifices in a sensitive and demanding region.
